Generators
A permit is required for commercial and residential installation of a generator. Very large portable generators may require a permit as well. For portable generators associated with village approved special events or with temporary tent permits refer to tempo
Application Requirements
The following is needed in order to apply for a permit:
- Completed EZ Permit Application
- One (1) legible copy of the plat of survey of the property indicating the exact location and dimensions of the proposed generator with setbacks from house, and side and rear property lines.
- Single-line electrical diagram indicating amperage, overcurrent device rating, conductor sizes, conduit size, etc.
- Diagram showing routing of gas pipe (underground or above ground), pipe material, and size.
- A copy of the contract between the homeowner and the contractor (if one is being used).
- A signed copy of the Homeowners Declaration Rider if you are part of a Homeowner Association (HOA).
- A signed Homeowner Affidavit if homeowner is doing any of the work themself.
Fees
- Residential - $90 due upon permit issuance
- Commercial - $110 due upon permit issuance

Permit Requirements
- Generators shall be located in the side or rear yards only. When located in the side yard, they shall be located at least 10 feet from side property line.
- Generator exhaust termination must observe all required manufacturer clearances to windows and property lines.
Required Inspections
- A Final Electrical inspection is required upon completion of the project.
- A Final Mechanical inspection is required upon completion of the project
