Re-roofing (Residential and Commercial Sloped Roofs)
A permit is required for the re-roofing of residential buildings and for re-roofing of commercial buildings with sloped roofs. No inspections and no fees are required.
Application Requirements
The following is needed in order to apply for a permit:
- Completed EZ Permit Application.
- A copy of the contract between the homeowner and the contractor (if one is being used).
- Homeowner Affidavit if homeowner is doing any of the work themselves

Permit Requirements
- All contractors listed on no-fee permits must still be licensed in accordance with Title 3, Chapter 8 of the Village Code.
- Ice and Water membrane shall be installed in accordance with 2018 IRC 905.1.2 consisting of self-adhering polymer-modified bitumen sheet in place of normal underlayment and extend from the lowest edges of all roof surfaces to a point not less than 24 inches inside the exterior wall line of the building. On roofs with slope equal to or greater than 8 units vertical in 12 units horizontal, the ice barrier shall also be applied not less than 36 inches measured along the roof slope from the eave edge of the building.
