The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is beginning work to resurface LaGrange Road from just north of Birch Avenue in Mokena to Colorado Avenue in Frankfort.
This project was originally scheduled for the 2016-2017 construction season, but due to the rapidly deteriorating condition of the roadway, your Mokena Village Board was successful in convincing the State to advance the start date by a full year.
Work will consist of pavement patching, curb and gutter removal and replacement at limited areas, complete removal and replacement of the center median in the concrete pavement sections located at LaGrange's intersection with Willow Lane and LaPorte Road, removal of the top two inches of existing asphalt, and installation of a new asphalt wearing surface. New striping will be added after the new surface course is placed.
During construction, two lanes of traffic will generally be maintained in each direction, although there may be a need to reduce traffic at times to one lane for major operations.
Project completion is expected by mid-summer.
Please use alternate routes whenever possible. While efforts will be made to limit effects to the surrounding areas, you may experience some inconveniences during construction.
As always, your patience and understanding is appreciated.
