Pioneer Cemetery Cannon Restoration Beginning

Pioneer Cemetery Cannon
Volunteers are beginning the process of preparing this historic piece of military history for removal from its current location.  The cannon will be partially disassembled, then media blasted to remove old paint and rust.  Where possible, parts of the cannon that were removed or damaged will be replaced.  The cannon will be epoxy-coated and repainted.  A new concrete display pad will be installed.  Upon completion of the restoration, the cannon will be re-set and secured, along with a re-dedication plaque.

This undertaking would not be possible without the combined efforts of the Mokena VFW William F. Martin Post 725, the Veterans Garage, and the Village of Mokena.
